Interacting Theatre is a disability arts theatre company offering affordable community classes around Auckland for people with a disability.
Interacting organises and runs a series of arts-based workshops for people with learning disabilities and intellectual delay, all over the Auckland area. It is a charity and pays for these workshops by applying for grants and receiving donations.
Classes include film making, drama and hip hop and are available throughout term time.
Annual InterAct festival is held at Corbans Estate in Henderson showcasing and celebrating the works of disabled people in the arts with stands for participants to have a go.
Founded in 2011 by festival director Paula Crimmens, The InterAct Festival offers an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of disabled people in the arts and creates a pathway forward toward a thriving and vibrant future for Disability Arts in New Zealand. Â Through live performances, wearable arts parades, Â drumming, singing, and creative workshops, InterAct fosters the talent of people with disabilities and provides an environment in which everybody can thrive.
