The Friendship Link programme aspires to empower people with intellectual disability in two ways:
1. Through facilitating friendship among their peer groups and within the wider community, and
2. By providing everyday social opportunities and activities.
The vision of the Delta Community Trust is to include and empower all people with intellectual disability by encouraging participation and personal growth. We seek to encourage and acknowledge the strengths and abilities of intellectually disabled people, loving, respecting and valuing them for who they are.
Having opportunities to form and nurture friendships and be included in everyday community life is vitally important for anyone. Relationships are central to our health and wellbeing and at Friendship Link, we endeavor to support people to form meaningful relationships.
Our activities range from our infamous monthly Disco and Movie Nights to Pamper, Scrapbooking, Craft activities, Gardening, Exercise groups, and more! Our groups and events each month are very well attended and there is ample opportunity for social experiences and to develop a variety of skills.
The Friendship Link activities change every few months according to seasonal changes to provide the best environment and skill opportunities for the participants.
