MENZSHED - Oamaru

MENZSHED are a registered charity that facilitates the running of Men's Sheds running across New Zealand.  These are community groups for men, where men can: come together to share their skills, enjoy social time and work on practical tasks as a group, or work on their own projects. MENSHEZ provide a supportive and beneficial environment for Men to learn new skills, as well as work on the things they love doing. As well as group and personal projects, Shed's also do work for community projects and events. Their aims are.

• Facilitating support and resources for member sheds and emerging groups wanting to establish a shed.
• Enabling a central contact point for all member sheds.
• Managing a national register of sheds in New Zealand.
• Providing benefits to member sheds, such as discounted group insurance rates.
• Supporting member sheds to keep their members safe through quality health and safety information.
• Creating beneficial partnerships with organizations:
• Enabling member sheds to be an accessible place for all men, regardless of ability, background or identity. 
• Organising national conferences and providing opportunities for regional and local networking groups.  
• Outline sheds’ responsibilities, structure and operations and guide each of these areas. 
• Providing information and support to enable member sheds to develop opportunities for learning and skill management and apply these to provide positive outcomes for the benefit of the shed and its members. 

Some sheds also provide opportunities for women members to come together, through the facilitation of women's groups, however, their main focus is creating a community space for men.
