NZCare Group is a a subsidiary of Healthcare NZ and provides services for adults with intellectual disability. This service was primarily set up from the deinstitutionalisation of Templeton hospital.
NZCare Group offers residential, vocational and respite services for people with an intellectual disability.
Provides residential and respite services for people with Huntington's Disease, and other nuero-degenerative brain disorders. Provides specialised services for Youth at Risk, and is able to provide residential and respite care for children and young people. Also provides the "Going Places" transitional service for young people with very high orrs funding who are leaving school.
They have services which offer Leisure and Recreation programmes for persons with intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities: Westwood Stables, 20-acre Riding For The Disabled facility; Birchwood Farm, 5-acre Hobby Farm set in rural Canterbury with all horticultural aspects covered; Te Ara Tika, a vocational service for people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. These services are based within the community fostering environments which promote independence, inclusion and quality & choice
